World Environment Day on 5 June, the Ministry of Health (VIHEMA), Ha Noi Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Hanoi EPA, Hanoi Women’s Union, UNDP, other UN agencies and WHO, all joined hands to make a collective commitment to achieving clean air in Hanoi through joint action and innovative solutions.
🤝 The event Clean Air, Green City, brought together individuals, community-based organizations, government agencies and the UN to discuss the significant health and other risks associated with air pollution and actions needed to fight for clean air
🎙 WHO Representative in Viet Nam Dr Angela Pratt said, “In Viet Nam, at least 70,000 people die because of air pollution every year, from acute respiratory illnesses, exacerbation of pre-existing illnesses such as asthma, and other conditions such stroke, heart disease, and lung cancer.
“Every 7.5 minutes, someone in Viet Nam dies because of an illness that was caused by exposure to air pollution. 70,000 deaths, every year is almost double the number of people who died in Viet Nam
