The 42nd session of the UNESCO General Conference took place from November 20 to 22 in Paris, France, with the participation of representatives from 194 member countries, honoring the great physician Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac of Vietnam.
The resolution, unanimously passed by all UNESCO members, serves as a clear affirmation of the remarkable contributions of the Vietnamese people in the fields of education, health, culture, and society. Simultaneously, it highlights the global recognition of the talent and intelligence of the Vietnamese people.
Hai Thuong Lan Ong-Le Huu Trac (1724 – 1791) was not only a great physician but also an excellent cultural figure of the nation. He left behind a vast cultural heritage, most notably the book “Hai Thuong Y Tong Tam Linh,” comprising 28 volumes and 66 books that cover the essence of traditional medicine. It is considered the best medical work from Vietnam’s medieval period.
