Alcohol causes significant harms to others, not just the person drinking.
In 2019, of a total of 298,000 deaths were from alcohol-related road crashes, 156,000 deaths were caused by someone else’s drinking.
400 million people, or 7% of the world’s population, live with alcohol use disorders.
Of those, over 200 million people are dependent on alcohol. This is when you feel you are unable to quit or reduce drinking or cannot function without alcohol.
